Welcome to GEMK

Bringing Global Education into Schools

GEMK is a charitable company which exists to increase awareness and understanding of sustainability and global development issues among students and teachers in Milton Keynes.

What we offer:

GEMK holds a wide range of resources available to members who wish to explore sustainable and global development issues with their students.

Teaching Resources include photo and activity packs, books, videos and artefacts from different countries.

INSET training can be provided to groups/Schools on topics Sustainability, Global Citizenship and School Linking.


CURRY NIGHT - Join us at Calcutta Brasserie for a

GEMK fundraising event

on Tuesday 28th February 2012 from 7pm. It is the launch of Fairtrade Fortnight and Anton Bowman, a Banana producer from St. Vincent will be joining us. Please join us, support us. Easy fundraising for GEMK GEMK receives no public funding to support its work, relying instead on obtaining grants to fund specific projects. Why not make a donation, or if you shop online, choose GEMK as your charity and raise money online using www.easyfundraising.org.uk

Membership:

Membership is available at both a group/school or at an individual level. GEMK Membership Form 2011-2012 (pdf, 640K) Members can borrow all our resources free of charge, although a small charge of £5/week or £10/term is made for the loan of artifacts box.

Projects:

Working in conjunction with other organisations from Milton Keynes, GEMK has designed a number of Educational Programmes including: "Who am I?", a programme designed for Primary school children to explore the heritage of their community and their personal identity.

Our previous project was a musical for Primary Schools When Chemistry Goes Bang! This is to help children to explore the roots of extreme behaviour.
