Who am I?

Our Who Am I? clubs have been successfully launched at Southwood School and Greenleys Junior School.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the clubs run for an hour after school.

Their aim is to encourage primary school children to collect oral evidence about local heritage. The club members will be trained to interview local people and record what they find out.

Later on club members will find out more about the countries the people they interviewed come from. Firstly they are looking at English heritage. So far they have looked at food; members of both clubs agreed that the English meal is fish and chips followed by chocolate cake!

We hope that you will keep coming back to find out what else makes the English, English. In the coming weeks you will discover the most English games and what English people wear.

This week, club members looked at their connections to the world and made a family tree

Club members are also looking forward to a visit from the Living Archive oral history trainer. The pupils will be put through their paces as interviewers so that they can collect oral evidence about heritage from their local community.

Our first Interviews have been done.

During club meetings we have also been finding out who the most famous English people are. So far the main contenders for the title are: The Queen, Henry VIII, William Shakespeare, Robbie Williams, David Beckham and Leona Lewis. Who would you choose?
